- Man acted alone and bought meat cleaver at grocery store in Sham Shui Po before going to wait for his former boss, says chief inspector

Hong Kong police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of slashing his former supervisor on her arms and legs in a pedestrian underpass near a railway station hours after he was sacked last week.
The man, who worked at a vegetable stall in Ngai Chi Wan Market in Choi Hung, allegedly carried out the attack after being laid off by the victim – a 43-year-old woman – on Thursday, the force on Monday said.
“It is not a random attack. The victim and the suspect know each other. The victim is a shop manager at the vegetable stall and the suspect is her former colleague,” acting chief inspector Ng Ka-lee of the Kowloon East regional anti-triad squad said.
“We believe the victim fired the suspect, who then plotted this attack.”

She added that the investigation showed the suspect acted alone.
