A source familiar with the case said the three Hong Kong residents included a 48-year-old alleged Wo Shing Wo triad leader, known as “Temple Street Long” due to his gang’s activity in the Jordan area.
Last month, he was allegedly among 35 people who stormed the Hong Kong office of a mainland China-based company in Tsim Sha Tsui in an apparent effort to recoup HK$19 million (US$2.4 million) lost on stocks. They were arrested on suspicion of unlawful assembly.
Temple Street Long is believed to be one of two current leaders of the Wo Shing Wo, which holds elections every two years to choose its bosses.

Friday’s arrests brought the total number of people detained by police in connection with the vandalism cases to 13.
Three BYD showrooms and its service centre were vandalised on Monday last week. Red paint was splashed on three premises, while a stolen car was used to ram the roller gate of the fourth site.
