Two boys, both 14, have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to rob a Hongkonger of his rucksack in King George V Memorial Park in Kowloon.

Police said they were still searching for another two teenage boys in connection with the botched theft, which took place in the Yau Ma Tei park on Jordan Road at around 4.35am on Wednesday.

The man, 45, was sitting on a bench in the park when four teenagers approached him and tried to snatch his backpack, according to the force.

“The victim held onto the rucksack and put up a struggle, but the suspects managed to grab it and fled on foot,” a police spokeswoman said.

She said the backpack was somehow dropped on the ground while the man was chasing them.
