Two infants whose bodies were found in glass jars in a flat were boys, with one born last year and the other in 2022, a Hong Kong court heard on Monday when a pair suspected of being their parents was present at the legal proceedings.

Warehouse keeper Lam Tsz-hon, 24, and public relations professional Chau Ying-wah, 22, appeared in Fanling Court in the morning to face two joint counts of preventing the burial of two infants.

They are accused of preventing the burial of the babies on two occasions. The first alleged crime took place in a zinc hut in Tin Shui Wai in 2022, and the other was in a residential flat in Tuen Mun in 2023, according to a charge sheet presented in court.

The defendants were arrested on Friday last week after a cleaner – tasked by the flat owner to tidy up the premises after the pair moved out – discovered two glass jars filled with liquid and remains that resembled an infant in each of them.

The court on Monday did not reveal the ages of the babies.

The Post learned that the boys were born on separate occasions, and the jars in which their bodies were found were placed in the Tuen Mun flat.
