Hong Kong police have arrested three suspects in connection with trafficking in dangerous drugs and the death of a woman in a hit-and-run accident in Sham Shui Po.
The force on Saturday said one of the trio, a 32-year-old Hong Kong man surnamed Poon, was the owner of a car linked to the fatal accident and was arrested on Thursday in Sheung Shui on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Poon’s case was mentioned in Fanling Court on Saturday morning, according to Senior Inspector Yeung Tit-ho of the Sham Shui Po district crime squad.
Officers found about 30 grams of suspected cocaine and about 20 grams of suspected methamphetamines inside the car, estimating the narcotics had a total street value of HK$52,000 (US$6,647).

The hit-and-run occurred on Thursday night when police approached the driver of an illegally parked white car on a lane off Castle Peak Road in Sham Shui Po.
