Hong Kong police have arrested a 29-year-old man over rape and other sex offences after he tried to flee the city following allegations made by six women.
Superintendent Cheung Ting-fung of the organised crime and triad bureau on Saturday said the force had been alerted by some reports circulating on various social media platforms about a man suspected of luring young women to his flat for sex between 2017 and this year.
“Our investigation showed that some sex tapes were made without the victims’ consent, or that they were forced into doing so,” Cheung said in a press briefing.
A woman, 59, had also been arrested in connection with the offences, he said.
Six women, aged between 18 and 25, had made reports to police as of Saturday.
Cheung said the suspect would be charged with rape, indecent assault, voyeurism and procuring an unlawful sexual act by threats or intimidation.
