A 54-year-old woman has been sentenced to two months in jail in Hong Kong for trying to bribe her driving test examiner twice with a mooncake voucher after she made a serious mistake during the parking portion.

Li Zheng-chun received the jail term at Sha Tin Court on Thursday after she pleaded guilty to offering bribes to the examiner during her private car driving test last September, close to the Mid-Autumn Festival.

During the test, Li had made a “serious mistake” by parking half of the vehicle outside the boundary of the designated space, the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) said.

Li then twice offered her examiner a mooncake voucher worth more than HK$400 (US$51), hoping to pass the test.

The Transport Department examiner, who had been randomly assigned, failed Li for her serious mistake and reported the incident on the same day to the department, which alerted the ICAC.
