Alert over fake Hong Kong police website set up to trick users into revealing personal details
- Public warned not to access bogus police site and, if they have given out information such as bank account details, to contact force

The public was told not to access the site in a warning posted on the force’s Facebook page on Tuesday night.
“If you have previously provided personal information to such a website, please report it to police immediately,” the force said.
The fake website may direct users to inquire about the wanted criminals tracking system, submit funds for investigation, or to access their accounts securely.
A police source said the fake website was designed to trick people into revealing personal information, including bank account details.

Police in April issued a scam alert and warned that fraudsters impersonating officers from the force’s Anti-Deception Coordination Centre had sent messages to people which accused them of involvement in illegal activities such as money laundering.
