Hong Kong police officer charged with raping woman, 21, while off duty

An off-duty Hong Kong police officer has been remanded in custody after being charged with raping a 21-year-old woman in a residential flat.

Police constable Ching Long, 24, appeared in Fanling Court on Friday after he was charged with one count of rape.

He allegedly attacked the woman in a flat in Tai Po on June 3.

The force said officers launched an investigation after the woman made a report to police at about 3pm on Wednesday.

“After conducting an initial investigation, police arrested a 24-year-old man in Tai Po on the same day on suspicion of rape,” police said on Thursday.

Detectives from the New Territories North regional crime unit are following up on the case.
