A Hong Kong truck driver has been arrested on suspicion of running a red light after his vehicle slammed into a double-decker bus, injuring seven people.

Police said the truck and the KMB vehicle collided at the intersection of Yat Ming Road and Pak Wo Road in Fanling at around 9.17am on Friday, with the bus then crashing into a safety island. A passer-by was among those hurt.

“An initial investigation indicated that the truck rammed into a bus, causing the double-decker to lose control, hit a traffic light and knock down a passer-by [on the safety island],” the force said.
