Hong Kong police on citywide hunt for trio in connection with knife attack on 2 men

Hong Kong police have launched a citywide manhunt for three perpetrators in connection with a knife attack on a traveller from mainland China and another elderly man in Kowloon’s downtown area.

A video posted online shows the three black-clad assailants carrying knives and wearing caps and black masks jumping out of a seven-seater car in Mong Kok before the attack at around 11.14pm on Tuesday.

A source familiar with the case said on Wednesday the two male victims were a 66-year-old and a 36-year-old visitor from the mainland, who have known each other for about three years.

“After having dinner with three other friends, the two victims were walking along Shanghai Street when three knifemen jumped out from a car and attacked them,” the insider said.

The attackers then returned to their car and sped off towards Dundas Street, he added.

The source said the 66-year-old man suffered knife wounds to his left ear, neck, chest, left forearm and two shoulders, while the mainlander was slashed on the left side of his face, an arm and a knee.
