Hong Kong police check CCTV footage in hunt for evidence after HK$120,000 flat burglary

Hong Kong police are gathering evidence from surveillance camera footage after more than HK$120,000 (US$15,391) in cash and valuables were stolen from a Cheung Sha Wan flat.

The male tenant, 27, of the flat on Castle Peak Road reported the burglary when he returned home and found it had been ransacked at around 10.45pm on Sunday.

Police said on Monday one of the flat windows was forced open.

“Initial investigations showed HK$122,000 in jewellery and HK$4,000 were stolen from the flat,” the force said.

Detectives from the Sham Shui Po criminal investigation unit are following up on the case.

Separately, police were called to a money exchange store on Des Voeux Road West in Western district of Hong Kong Island at 9.45am on Monday when an employee arrived for work and found the front door had been forced open.
