A married primary school teacher has been jailed for 16 months in Hong Kong after he admitted to taking more than 1,500 upskirt pictures of at least 10 victims, including some of his students while they were in class.

Leung Wing-san, 35, on Friday pleaded guilty to 13 charges related to the offence of unlawfully taking pictures of intimate parts of women in various locations, according to a court document.

The photos were taken at locations including railway stations, two primary schools where he had worked and shopping centres between May 2021 and July 2022.

The court heard four victims were Leung’s students at the time, with some pictures being taken during a computer lesson.

Upon arrest, the defendant told police he only took the pictures because he was “stressed from work”. He was a married man with an infant at the time of the offence, the court heard.

“As a teacher, how dare you prey on your students?” said District Judge Ada Yim Shun-yee. “It was hard to imagine the impact on the schools. Students who were once taught by the defendant must be concerned [about whether their pictures were taken].”

She slammed Leung for breaching the trust of his students, with pictures retrieved from his phone showing he had repeatedly captured girls who appeared unaware their teacher was pointing the phone under their skirts.
