Hongkonger, 73, arrested for allegedly killing man in fight over ‘trivial matters’

Police say fight broke out outside public toilet in Yuen Long at 5.31pm last Thursday

A 73-year-old Hongkonger has been arrested for allegedly killing an elderly man during a scuffle over “trivial matters”.

Police said they received a report that a fight broke out outside a public toilet on Hong King Street in Yuen Long at 5.31pm last Thursday.

Officers who arrived at the scene found the victim, 68, lying on the ground with head injuries.

Both the suspect and the victim were arrested for fighting in a public area at the time. The former was released on bail.

The injured man was transferred to Pok Oi Hospital in Yuen Long and then to Tuen Mun Hospital, where he died on Friday afternoon.

The man who survived was arrested for murder on Wednesday and detained for questioning, police said on Thursday.
