Motorcyclist dies in Hong Kong after being sandwiched between truck and bus

A Hong Kong motorcyclist died on Friday after he was sandwiched between a truck and a public bus, the driver of which was arrested.

The three vehicles were travelling along Wan Po Road in Tseung Kwan O and approaching the juncture near Chun Yat Street when the crash happened at 6.10pm, according to police.

“The truck and the motorcycle stopped at the traffic light, the bus then crashed into the motorcycle, which then crashed into the truck,” a force spokesman said.

According to images of the incident posted online, the motorcycle was sandwiched between the bus and the truck, with blood and debris scattered across the road.

The motorcycle rider, a 50-year-old man, was taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital, where he was certified dead at 8.52pm.

The bus driver, a 62-year-old man, was taken to the same hospital after he said he felt unwell. He was arrested by police on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and held for inquiries.
