Hong Kong police arrest parents after young children rescued from window ledge
Source says boys aged three and five climbed out of window of fourth-floor flat, with parents held on suspicion of child neglect
Hong Kong police have arrested a mother and a father on suspicion of child neglect after their two young sons were rescued by firefighters from a ledge and an air-conditioner unit outside their flat.
A police source said on Friday that the brothers, aged three and five, had unlocked the window grille of the fourth-floor flat and climbed out onto the ledge.
The force said the 33-year-old father, surnamed Lee, and the 29-year-old mother, surnamed To, were being detained on suspicion of abusing or neglecting a child or minor under their care.
The Tai Po district criminal investigation team is looking into the case.
Police said residents at Queen’s Hill Estate in Fanling made a report at around 10am after spotting the boys.
One child was then seen sitting on the ledge, while the other sat on a space next to an exterior air-conditioning unit.
