Woman struck by train in Hong Kong’s Tuen Mun

Victim rescued by firefighters after being trapped underneath train

A woman was injured when she was struck by a light rail train and became trapped under the vehicle in Hong Kong on Saturday evening.

Police said the incident occurred at the MTR Light Rail Depot stop in Tuen Mun at around 6pm. The train was travelling in the direction of Yuen Long.

According to a force spokesman, the woman was trapped underneath the train and was subsequently rescued by firefighters, before being transported to Tuen Mun Hospital.

The woman sustained abrasions on her face and limbs, police said.

The rail operator, the MTR Corporation, stated that the accident scene had been cleared at around 7.20pm and that the light rail service was gradually resuming.
