Keith Yip Wan-lung, who was previously director of crime and security of Hong Kong police, has been promoted to deputy commissioner for operations, filling the position vacated by the force’s new chief.

Yip’s appointment on Monday was made weeks after Joe Chow Yat-ming, who previously held the post, was named the new commissioner of police.

Joining the force in 1991 as an inspector, Yip has mainly worked in the anti-crime stream throughout his career, amassing a wealth of experience in the field of criminal investigation.
