Indonesian consulate helps family of domestic helper killed in Hong Kong car crash

The Indonesian consulate in Hong Kong is working with authorities to help the family of a domestic helper who died in a car crash alongside her boss on Monday.

A spokeswoman for the consulate told the Post on Tuesday that it has already established contact with the deceased domestic helper’s family.

“We are also working in close coordination with relevant Hong Kong authorities to provide appropriate follow-up measures, including provision of necessary assistance, in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations,” she said.

A source had told the Post that the 37-year-old victim in the car crash in Tai Po was an Indonesian domestic helper employed by an 88-year-old local woman, who also died in the incident.

The crash also left a 71-year-old pedestrian with abrasions on her right cheek.

Police arrested a 60-year-old private car driver after he rammed his vehicle into a stationary van at Po Heung Lane in Tai Po.
