Hong Kong police arrest 9 in crackdown on dangerous driving
Eight men and a woman aged between 37 and 62 arrested, including two people wanted for previous offences

Hong Kong police have arrested nine suspects, including two people who were on a wanted list, for serious driving offences during a week-long crackdown on speeding and other road-safety breaches.
A police spokesman said on Sunday that officers in the New Territories North region launched the law enforcement operation between July 5 and Saturday to maintain road safety on the region’s highways.
“The traffic headquarters of New Territories North has found in its analysis of highway traffic situations that many traffic accidents arise from reckless lane cutting, moving between lanes and other inappropriate driving behaviour, such as disobeying lane traffic rules,” the spokesman said.
In the week-long operation, officers issued 194 fixed-penalty tickets and court summonses, and arrested nine people on suspicion of dangerous driving and drink-driving.
Eight men and a woman, aged between 37 and 62, were arrested. They included a man and a woman wanted for previous offences. All those arrested have been released on bail, and are required to report back to police in early August.
Officers also seized six vehicles suspected of being illegally modified.
