A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death and his live-in girlfriend was taken unconscious to hospital after they had an argument at a public housing block in Choi Hung on Monday.

Before the couple was found, both unconscious, metres away from each other, a neighbour told police that there was a fight between the pair. The neighbour also told police the injured man was found beside a knife at the 12th-floor lift lobby.

It is understood that the couple was living with the man's mother, who was not at home at the time of the incident.

When officers arrived at the King Kung House on Choi Wan Estate on Clear Water Bay Road, they found the man bleeding and unconscious near the lift. He was suffering from multiple stab wounds.

His 48-year-old girlfriend "was also found lying unconscious inside a flat [on the same floor]," a police spokeswoman said.

"Our initial investigation found that, during the incident, the man ran out of his flat and the woman gave chase and apparently caught him in the lift lobby," a police source said.

"Police were told that arguing was heard from the flat before the pair ran out."
