A taxi driver was fighting for his life on Monday night and his passenger was being treated for leg injuries after they were hit by another cab as they had a dispute outside the vehicle on a Yuen Long highway.
The 57-year-old driver suffered serious head and leg injuries and was in critical condition at Tuen Mun Hospital. His passenger, a 24-year-old man, was in stable condition.
The New Territories taxi was travelling towards Lok Ma Chau on the San Tin Highway after picking up the man and his girlfriend in Tin Shui Wai early yesterday morning.
Police said that as the taxi neared Mo Fan Heung at about 2.30am, the driver had an argument with the male passenger who had complained about his driving.
When the taxi pulled over to the slow lane of the three-lane road, the two men got out of the vehicle, according to a police spokeswoman.
At the same time, an urban taxi arrived and apparently lost control before ramming into the back of the New Territories taxi and knocking down the two men.
