Welcome to Hong Kong: German visitors left bruised and battered by robbers outside Chungking Mansions
Hong Kong police are searching for a gang of robbers who left two German tourists battered and bruised in a dawn attack outside Chungking Mansions today.
The two friends, 28 and 29, were assaulted outside the building in Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, at about 5.30am, according to police. The gang is said to be made up of three or four men of South Asian origin.
“The two victims were assaulted and robbed of a wallet, mobile phones, HK$300 in cash and a bag carrying three shirts,” police said in a statement.
The 28-year-old man police identified only as Von, received injuries to his eye and arm while his friend, 29, identified as Marc, suffered face and arm injuries, according to police.

The two injured were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for treatment.
Officers combed the area, but no arrests were made.

Chungking Mansions is world famous for its maze of cheap guesthouses, stores, massage parlours and restaurants and is a popular destination for visitors on a budget. It has been associated with drug dealing and immigration offences, as well as more serious crimes including an assault on a policeman earlier this year and a rape in 2013.

Police are treating the case as “robbery”. Detectives from Yau Tsim police district are investigating.
