HK$45m in bribes: Building sub-contractor admits role in bid-rigging plots at Hong Kong private housing estates
A renovation subcontractor this morning admitted his role in two alleged bid-rigging plots for teaming up with others to offer HK$45 million in bribes – one of which involves the controversial renovation work at a private housing estate in Sha Tin.

A renovation subcontractor admitted yesterday teaming up with others to offer HK$45 million in bribes so they could win tenders for two projects - one of which involved work at a Sha Tin private housing estate that would pay out HK$260 million.
Yau Shui-tin, 57, pleaded guilty at the District Court to four counts of conspiracy to offer an advantage to an agent between 2005 and last year, becoming the first to be convicted over building management irregularities in recent years.

He admitted conspiring with six others to rig a renovation tender for Garden Vista, which was involved in three of the charges.
The court heard Yau earlier admitted, under ICAC caution, he was approached in 2010 by Synergis Management Services property manager Hui Kwan-pik, who knew he had connections and could act as a middleman.
Yau then contacted Chung Wai-keung, a shareholder of T. S. Tam Architects, prosecutor Wong Hay-yiu alleged.
