Light Rail train service in Tuen Mun was disrupted with repair work under way on Tuesday afternoon after an extended arm on a crane truck damaged the MTR’s overhead power cables.

At 9.15pm Tuesday, repair work was completed and normal services resumed.

The crane knocked down two overhead cables along Tsing Lun Road near Kei Lun stop in Tuen Mun at about 3.45pm Tuesday, police said. The truck driver, 68, was unhurt.

The driver told police that he forgot to lower the extended arm after carrying out roadwork nearby, according to a police spokeswoman.

The MTR Corporation said the damaged overhead lines caused power failure in the district and at one point disrupted train services on eight Light Rail routes.
