Police arrested two men in relation to two separate child molestation cases Saturday. In the first case, a 32-year-old man was arrested and detained on suspicion of molesting a four-year-old boy in Tsuen Wan. In the second case, a 35-year-old man, surnamed Xu, was arrested in Tai Po for allegedly indecently assaulting a six-year-old girl, following a complaint made by the victim’s mother. The man was also allegedly linked to an attack on another six-year-old girl. Police stepped up efforts to track down an alleged sexual predator operating in the Tsuen Wan area after fearssurfaced among local parents. Dozens of police officers were deployed to parks in Tsuen Wan to quiz children and parents on Friday, seeking information and whether they had noticed any suspicious activity. Meanwhile, the search is still on for a sex offender who assaulted two girls, aged eight and 11 years old, in separate incidents in Sau Mau Ping a fortnight ago. Investigations showed the attacks were carried out by the same man. The suspect is thought to be aged between 30 and 40 years old, thinly built and about 1.7 metres tall, with short hair. Police figures showed there were 584 reports of indecent assault in the first seven months of the year, down slightly from 597 in the same period last year.
