Hong Kong ‘God of Racing’ Jim Chong-shing’s daughter found dead in Tsuen Wan pier waters
Police are investigating if the death was linked to her boyfriend who was rescued from the sea nearby just three days prior
The body of the 15-year-old daughter of alleged triad faction leader Jim Chong-shing was found in waters off a pier in Tsuen Wan last week.
No identification documents were found on the decomposing body after it was discovered in the sea about 100 metres from Tsuen Wan ferry pier at about 3pm on December 15.
About two days later, fingerprint tests established the identity of the deceased.
Notorious road racer Jim Chong-shing, more commonly known as “the God of Racing”, also identified the body at Kwai Chung Public Mortuary on Tuesday.
Jim, a well-known figure in the city, is suspected by authorities to be a faction leader of the Wo On Lok triad.
He told the media earlier that his daughter had gone missing since December 13. An appeal for information on her was also recently posted on Facebook.
According to a source, no wounds were found on the body and an autopsy was likely to be performed.
Police said an initial investigation found nothing suspicious.
Authorities are also looking into how her death may be linked to the girl’s 20-year-old boyfriend, who was rescued from the sea off Tsing Yi Promenade – opposite Tsuen Wan ferry pier – by passers-by at about 4am on December 12.
The man had claimed he was using his mobile phone when he accidentally fell into the sea. He was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital.
Following his rescue, a vessel operator had notified police three hours later after sighting what was suspected to be a body in the sea off the pier. Marine police launched a search but found nothing.
The body of Jim’s daughter was found in the same area three days later.
Officers from Kwai Tsing district are investigating.
