Hunt for two men spotted with weapons on Hong Kong train network
One was carrying an axe and the other had a folding knife
In separate incidents over the space of four hours, one was seen carrying an axe and the other had a folding knife.
Officers received a report at about 8.30am of a bald man aged about 60 holding an axe at Choi Hung MTR station.
“He boarded a Whampoa-bound train before officers arrived,” a police source said. Officers mounted a search but found no trace of him.
He was of medium build, wore a yellow shirt and light trousers, and was carrying a black rucksack.

About four hours later, a man aged about 50 was spotted with a knife on a train at Wong Tai Sin MTR station.
“Police were told that the man wearing gloves was carrying a six-inch knife and murmuring to himself on board the Tiu Keng Leng-bound train,” the source said.
The man left the train at Lam Tin station and headed in the direction of the Laguna City private housing estate in Lam Tin. He was last seen entering the Laguna Plaza shopping centre in Cha Kwo Ling Road.
Officers guarded all exits and searched the shopping centre. The man was wearing a black top, blue jeans and was carrying a black rucksack.
Later Thursday night, a suspect in the case at Wong Tai Sin station was arrested in the nearby Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate. He was detained.
Police said no one was injured in either incident.
Both culprits were Chinese and the source said there was nothing to indicate it was the same man.
Officers were studying security camera footage on Thursday night.
