KMB double-decker careers out of control, knocks down woman in Kwai Chung

Accident on Castle Peak Road leaves woman in Princess Margaret Hospital

A double-decker operated by Kowloon Motor Bus careered out of control, mounted a pavement and knocked down a woman in Kwai Chung on Tuesday morning.

The crash took place outside Shui Sum Industrial Building in the Kwai Chung section of Castle Peak Road at about 10.15am, according to police.

“The bus mounted onto a pavement and knocked down a female pedestrian,” a police spokeswoman said.

The injured woman was taken conscious to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.

According to officers, the bus driver complained of feeling unwell after the incident and underwent a medical examination by paramedics at the scene.

The bus also took down a section of metal railings along the walkway.

Officers from the New Territories South traffic unit were handling the case.

Police figures show 48 people died in 47 road traffic accidents in the first five months of this year. In the whole of last year, 132 people died in 129 accidents.
