Hong Kong man leaps to death with daughter, 2, in Macau after allegedly attacking girlfriend with cleaver
Girl’s mother, 30, sustained multiple non-life-threatening knife wounds
A Hong Kong man picked up his two-year-old daughter and jumped to their death from a Macau residential building on Sunday morning after allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a kitchen knife.
The 30-year-old Hong Kong woman, the girl’s mother, was taken to Hospital Conde S. Januário with multiple non-life-threatening knife wounds after the incident at luxury estate One Oasis in Coloane.
The 34-year-old man and their daughter were found at the foot of the building. The man was confirmed dead at the scene, while the girl died in hospital.
Macau police said the couple had had fights over relationship issues. The man had previously been unemployed and had stayed home to look after his daughter until he recently went back to Hong Kong to work.
At about 4am on Sunday, the man returned to the flat. When their domestic helper left roughly three hours later, he is believed to have attacked the woman in the bedroom with a meat cleaver.
She escaped and ran to the building lobby. The man jumped with the girl shortly after.
Investigators found a bloodstained meat cleaver in the flat.
