A worker was trapped under a minibus on Monday morning after the vehicle crashed into a roadside work site outside a shopping centre in Sau Mau Ping.

The 22-year-old victim was freed by firefighters after the incident outside Shun Lee Shopping Centre at the junction of Lee On Road and Shun King Street shortly after 11am.

The minibus is believed to have knocked down the worker before hitting the back of a road maintenance truck.

“The man suffered head injuries and was taken unconscious to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment,” a police spokesman said.

According to police, the minibus driver also had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters. He was taken conscious to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong for treatment.
