Man arrested after sex attack on six-year-old girl

Hong Kong police have arrested a 25-year-old man after a six-year-old girl was indecently assaulted in Tseung Kwan O on Tuesday afternoon.

The man turned himself over to police at Tseung Kwan O Police Station at about 8pm on Tuesday. He will be detained overnight.

Initial investigations showed the incident took place in Mau Yip Road, Tseung Kwan O, when the girl was alone, according to police.

A manhunt began following a report made by the girl’s family at 5.45pm.

Detectives from the Tseung Kwan O district crime squad are handling the case.

There has been an increase in sex crimes in the first half of this year, despite an overall downward trend in recent years.
