Hong Kong police search for parents of girl, 4, found trying to hail taxi in Sau Mau Ping

Hong Kong police are searching for the parents of a non-Chinese girl who was found wandering on the street in Sau Mau Ping in the early hours of Monday.
The child, thought to be about four years old, was spotted trying to flag down a taxi on Sai Ming Road at about 1.30am.
A passing taxi driver, 53, was concerned about her safety and took her to Kwun Tong Police Station, where he made a report. The girl was then taken to a public hospital for a check-up.
“Initial checks found no apparent injuries on the girl, and she appeared to be healthy,” a police spokeswoman said.
The thinly built girl has short, curly black hair, is about 1.1 metres tall and weighs about 50 pounds.
She was wearing a grey dress and brown boots and carrying a pink bag.
“Officers were told that the girl wanted to go to Tsim Sha Tsui to find her mother. But she failed to tell the exact location,” a police source said.
He added that the department was looking into why the girl was in Sau Mau Ping alone.
Officers from Kwun Tong Police Station are handling the case. Police urged anyone with information about the girl to contact them at 3661 0512.
