Three more women to identify Hong Kong cook accused of posing as police to commit sex crimes

Mui Kam-tim faces seven charges of rape, theft, indecent assault, non-consensual buggery, and three of impersonating a public officer

A young cook accused of sexually attacking three women while impersonating an officer was placed in police custody by a Hong Kong court on Friday, to allow an identification parade for three other possible victims.

Mui Kam-tim, 25, bowed his head throughout his first court appearance before Chief Magistrate Clement Lee Hing-nin at the West Kowloon Court.

He was not required to take plea on seven charges: rape, theft, indecent assault, non-consensual buggery, and three of impersonating a public officer.

Prosecutors alleged that Mui claimed to be a police constable on three occasions in April, August and September, each time attacking a different woman.

He was also accused of stealing HK$1,000 from one of the women at Choi Hung Estate in Wong Tai Sin.

Mui’s bail application was refused after prosecutors objected to his release.

On Monday, they applied for him to be transferred to police for an identification parade for three other possible victims. The parade is scheduled for next Monday.

The case is adjourned to next Tuesday.
