Hong Kong police were searching for a motorcycle-riding robber on Thursday after he swiped a wallet containing HK$15,000 from a pedestrian before daybreak.

The theft took place outside Bailey Mansion on Ngan Hon Street in To Kwa Wan, soon after 5.30am.

The victim – a 31-year-old man – suffered minor hand injuries. He was bandaged up at the scene but did not request hospital treatment.

“The victim called police saying a man in a helmet had grabbed his wallet containing HK$15,000 in cash and a HK$6,000 mobile phone, before fleeing on a motorcycle,” a police spokesman said.

Officers scoured the area, but no arrest was made.
