Boy taken to hospital after fall from third-floor flat in Hong Kong
Emergency personnel called in after passer-by saw victim on first-floor canopy of building in Causeway Bay
A four-year-old Indian boy was taken to hospital after falling from a third-floor flat in Hong Kong on Thursday.
The incident happened at Tang Lung Street, Causeway Bay at about 1.10pm.
Emergency personnel were called in after a male passer-by saw the boy climb out of window from a fourth-floor flat and scale down a drainpipe, according to a police source. The window did not have an iron grille.
He said initial information showed the boy climbed to the third floor before he fell off the building. The boy landed on the first-floor canopy before emergency personnel arrived.
Police arrested his 34-year-old father on suspicion of ill-treatment or neglect of a child. The man had been released pending for further investigation.
Officers from Wan Chai district crime squad are handling the case.
