They both belong to the city's biggest Beijing-friendly party, which is well known for its unity in voting on government bills and motions. Yet two of its lawmakers are poles apart on the use of question time during the weekly Legislative Council meeting.

Elizabeth Quat of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong is the lawmaker who filed the most questions - 27 out of a total of 644 - to the administration in the past Legco session. Her party colleague, veteran Ip Kwok-him, came last. He did not ask a single question, a South China Morning Post study has found.

Quat was followed by accountancy sector lawmaker Kenneth Leung, who asked 24 questions.

Pro-establishment legislator Poon Siu-ping, who represents the labour sector, was second last. He asked just one written question.

The government is required to address around 20 questions - six to be answered by relevant officials in person and the rest in writing - at the weekly meeting every Wednesday.
