Nightmare at Lan Kwai Fong: Leung Chai-yan slaps her mother twice in Halloween street tantrum

The Chief Executive’s troubled daughter slaps her mother twice in a street altercation during Hong Kong’s huge Halloween festivities.

A Halloween celebration turned into a real nightmare for Hong Kong's first family – Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying’s eldest daughter was caught on camera striking out at her mother in the city's party district.

Leung Chai-yan, 24, decked in ghoulish attire and makeup for last night's Halloween festivities, was captured slapping her mother, Regina Tong Ching-yee, twice in the face as she was being bundled into a taxi amidst the huge crowds gathered in Lan Kwai Fong, according to a number of videos posted online.

As Tong helped her daughter get into the taxi, Leung slapped her in the face twice, refusing to let her get into the vehicle with her. Tong was seen cradling her own cheek in shock.

“You know this mum is not my actual biological mother,” said Leung to the small crowd gathered at the scene around 3am Sunday morning.

“Mum, just go. Just go.”

Leung then ushered her male friend into the taxi with her, and left without her mother.

Leung Chai-yan’s Instagram account details what appears to be a very enthusiastically celebrated Halloween at a number of nightclubs and parties, including at Armani Prive and the Bungalow Bar.

The episode is the latest in a string of publicised incidents involving Leung and her family. Earlier this year, Leung announced she had officially left home after claiming online that she’d had a violent row with her mother, and had been “held against her will” at home.

It prompted the chief executive to hold a press conference saying that his daughter had been dealing with health and emotional issues for a few years, and denying any domestic violence.

Leung had said in an exclusive interview with Hong Kong’s Cable TV in January that she had hundreds of disputes with her parents.

The Chief Executive's Office has yet to issue a statement to confirm or respond to the incident.
