Students at 70 of 510 full-day primary schools in the city stayed at school more than 7.5 hours a day to study, according to the Primary School Profiles 2015 by the Committee on Home-School Cooperation. Students at three schools stayed more than eight hours, exceeding the seven hours per day recommended by the Education Bureau. Since most students need to stay two more hours a day for extra-curricular activities, they tend to spend as long as 10 hours a day at school.

Kwong Wah Hospital has allegedly contravened the guidelines of the Council on Human Reproductive Technology by discarding the embryos of an infertile couple. The couple underwent artificial insemination operations six years ago at the hospital and the woman gave birth to a daughter. She had four embryos kept in the hospital fridge and planned to have one more child next year, but they were informed at the end of September that the embryos had been discarded. No reason was given for the move.
