Outgoing Legislative Council President Jasper Tsang Yok-sing has claimed that local media twisted comments he made to a mainland news organisation regarding the chief executive’s judgement.

“In terms of judgement on political issues and opposition forces, Mr Leung and I share different views. But maybe I am right, or he might be right,” Tsang told reporters Saturday.

“I just want to make a comparison and this is what I meant. But a (local) media said I opposed Leung’s administration. This is incorrect.”

The clarification came after an interview with Tsang published on the mainland China news portal Jiemian revealed the outgoing lawmaker’s differences with Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying’s judgement on political issues.

Jiemian removed the article from its website without explanation just hours after posting it online on Friday morning.

Tsang said Jiemian had initially emailed him a link to the story, but then followed up with a second email, which advised him that the story had to be shelved because his comments had been twisted by some Hong Kong media.
