Resigned financial secretary John Tsang holds fire on chief executive bid
Tsang tendered his resignation on the day the pan-democrats clinched a record 326 seats on the 1,194 member election committee that will choose the next chief executive in March.

John Tsang Chun-wah has stopped short of declaring his election bid, saying he will make a “responsible decision” shortly on whether to run for Hong Kong’s top job as he hosted his last media briefing as financial secretary.
“Running as chief executive is a serious question,” Tsang told the media on Monday evening. “I will make a responsible decision and notify everyone as soon as possible. I am sorry I cannot say too much on it today.”
He used the press conference to thank his colleagues for their work during his time as financial secretary.
“Thanks to all colleagues for doing their work regardless of the pressure,” he said.
“Being able to witness Hong Kong’s significant moments is my greatest honour.”
As he was leaving the press conference, Tsang told reporters he “would have chances to talk” about the matter later.
