Beijing has transferred a senior official from its liaison office in Macau to its outpost in Hong Kong to boost coordination between the various security agencies based in the city, sources have said.
One source with knowledge of the matter said Luo Yonggang, formerly the deputy director of Beijing’s office in Macau, had been given the same title in Hong Kong and placed “mainly in charge of security liaison and coordination”.
“He arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday. He will be the key man assisting liaison office director Luo Huining on security-related work going forward,” the Beijing-based source said.

A second source based in Macau said Luo Yonggang would take over the portfolio of 61-year-old Yang Jianping, who had reached retirement age.
