- Metre-long boar shot with tranquillisers and caged
A woman was injured by a wild boar in a subway station on Wednesday after the feral pig wandered into the subway from the countryside.
The metre-long wild boar was seen strolling along Forbes Street before sneaking into Kennedy Town MTR station, where it was confronted by security workers at about 8pm.
Police officers with barricades surrounded the animal near a passenger lift in the concourse near exit B.
Officers from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) shot the boar with tranquilliser and removed it in a cage at about 9pm.
The woman, 49, suffered minor leg injuries from the boar in the station lobby and was taken to Queen Mary Hospital.
The animal’s limbs were injured and bloodied by escape attempts.
Earlier on Wednesday in Central, another wild boar sent shield-wielding police officers running before it was caught and caged by AFCD staff.
The boar was seen trotting on Caine Road, Hillier Street, Des Voeux Road Central and Connaught Road Central at about 2.30pm.
