Woman jumps from Hong Kong residential building, landing on another woman, killing them both

  • Police source says younger woman, 55, jumped from building in Kwai Chung, falling on older woman, 74, who was on a platform on third floor

Two women died after one jumped from a residential building in Kwai Chung, and then landed on the other on a platform early on Friday afternoon.

According to a police source, the younger woman, 55, died immediately after falling from the building on Tai Loong Street in Shek Lei.

The woman, when falling, hit the other woman, 74, who was on a platform on the third floor. The elder woman was declared dead at 12:32pm after being brought to Yan Chai Hospital in Kwai Chung.

Investigations showed that the younger woman was unemployed and was living on her own on the 26th floor. “She had been unhappy recently because of relationship problems,” the source said. “It had nothing to do with recent political issues.”

The older woman was the owner of a flat on the third floor of the building.

The cases have for now been listed as suicide and accident and are under investigation by the Kwai Tsing regional crime unit.
