- The Labour Department is investigating
Labour chiefs were investigating on Saturday after a man died in an accident involving a rock crusher at a building site in eastern Hong Kong.
Police got a report at about 11.20am that the 31-year-old, who had been working on a platform on the crusher, had got trapped and been injured by the machine’s conveyor belt.
When police and firefighters arrived at the site on Wan Po Road, Tseung Kwan O, they found the man unconscious, having injured his head and other parts of his body. He was taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital, where he was certified dead.
Police classified the case as an industrial accident, as there was nothing suspicious about it.
In a statement, the Labour Department said it sent staff to the scene once it heard about the accident, and was still investigating the cause.
