A 42-year-old truck driver was crushed to death on Tuesday after a four-tonne pipe fell on him at a Hong Kong construction site. According to police, the man was working near Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, on Shing Fung Road in Kowloon Bay, when the accident happened shortly before 10am. The driver had been attempting to secure the pipe inside the truck when it rolled on top of him and he was trapped underneath, police said. He was freed by his colleagues and taken to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong, where he was certified dead at 10.37am. A police spokesman said an initial investigation found nothing suspicious, while the Labour Department said its officers were still investigating what had happened.
