South China Morning Post wins 2 prizes at Consumer Rights Reporting Awards
- Series exploring impact of inflation wins bronze prize in feature writing category
- Senior photographer Dickson Lee also awarded bronze for image showing disappointment of some ethnic minority members over e-voucher scheme

South China Morning Post staff have won two press awards at an event organised by Hong Kong’s consumer watchdog for a series exploring the impact of inflation on residents and a photograph that captured the disappointment of some ethnic minority members left out of a government e-voucher scheme.
The series looked into how rising commodity prices during the coronavirus pandemic affected Hongkongers from all walks of life in 2021. The plight of low-income families struggling to make ends meet inspired some Post readers to offer their support to interviewees.

Senior photographer Dickson Lee’s photograph titled “E-vouchers plan omits some of neediest” won the bronze prize in the news photography category.
The picture captured the disappointment of some members of ethnic minority groups who were left out of the government’s consumption voucher scheme.
The Post competed with about 40 media outlets, social media platforms and local tertiary education institutes in the competition organised by the Consumer Council. A total of 311 entries vied for 34 awards across seven categories.
