6 Hong Kong firefighters escape injury after their vehicle rams central divider, topples over

Six firefighters had a narrow escape after their vehicle rammed into a central divider and toppled over on a road in Hong Kong’s New Territories on Tuesday.

A video posted online showed the fire engine on its side as passers-by stopped to assist. A section of railing was damaged on the concrete divider next to the vehicle.

The footage also showed some of the railing had landed in a lane of oncoming traffic and appeared to have hit a passing taxi.

The crash took place on On Po Road near the junction with Nam Wan Road in Tai Po soon after 5pm, according to police.

A police spokesman said no injuries were reported in the incident and officers were investigating.

He said the section of the road was closed to traffic.

None of the six firefighters on board had suffered any injuries, according to the Fire Services Department.
