Welcome quack! Beloved giant duck artwork returns to Hong Kong, this time with friend
- Hongkongers snap pictures of yellow 18-metre ducks being towed by boats past Tamar Park and Hong Kong Exhibition Centre
- Pair part of public art show titled ‘The Double Ducks by Florentijn Hofman’, with organisers saying they hope display will spread ‘double happiness’

Dozens of residents lined up along the stretch of waterfront between Central and Wan Chai to catch a glimpse of the duo being towed by boats past Tamar Park and the Hong Kong Exhibition Centre.
The 18-metre (59-foot) high ducks, part of an art show titled “The Double Ducks by Florentijn Hofman”, stand taller than the green-and-white Star Ferry vessels that cross the harbour.

Engineer and Wan Chai resident William Chung said he had waited at Tamar Park since about 10am, an hour before the event, to take pictures of the pair.
“They are amazing,” Chung said. “I decided last night to spend my day off taking pictures of the ducks after learning the news of their return.”
The engineer, in his 40s, said he remembered taking lots of pictures of the smaller, 16.5-metre duck also created by Hofman that appeared in the waters off Tsim Sha Tsui’s Harbour City shopping centre for a public art show 10 years ago.
Anna Yeung, a homemaker in her 40s, was busy taking pictures of the ducks at Tamar Park, saying she was also scouting out a good photo spot for her 12-year-old son’s graduation later this month.
