Man dies after mystery fall at Hong Kong shopping centre

A man plunged to his death in a bustling Hong Kong shopping centre on Saturday afternoon.

He was found unconscious on the fourth floor of the Langham Place shopping centre on Argyle Street in Mong Kok after police received reports that someone had fallen from a higher level at 1.19pm on Saturday.

A mall spokesman said the incident was not linked to its iconic long escalator connecting levels four and eight. It had been closed for maintenance since Friday.

The incident was witnessed by numerous shoppers, and police soon cordoned off the area.

The man was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the force.

The man’s cause of death has yet to be determined. Authorities are expected to conduct an autopsy soon.

Police said no suicide note was found at the scene.
